biogas to hydrogen
WS Reformer is collaborating with partners from the Universities of Stuttgart and Hohenheim, as well as the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology (IPA), to develop a process for capturing CO2 during hydrogen production from biogas.
Among the 26 subprojects of the national funding initiative financed by the BMFTR CDRterra is BioFleCCS the subproject with the strongest practical relevance.
Destination in BioFleCCS is the construction and operation of a scalable pilot plant at the University of Hohenheim’s „Unterer Lindenhof“ biogas plant.
The process combines reforming, gas separation, and CO2 liquefaction in a novel way, and
enables biogas plants to become more flexible by producing electricity, heat, hydrogen, and CO2.
opens up the thermochemical pathway for storing electricity in hydrogen without an electrolyzer
makes hydrogen fuel „carbon-negative“ or „climate-positive“
